Gay sex was illegal and was punishable to the second half of the 20th century in many countries in Europe. It built a sense of shame. Combined with the surrounding homophobia, it built a sense of guilt. Like queer love, intimate relationships only existed underground because of moral and social disapproval which remained strong till the modern gay right movement began in 1969.
My goal is to break with this stigma, which is still strong in Poland despite the passage of time. Using the painting medium, with all its brutality and fleshiness, I do not judge or moralize.
I mix intimate images with close-ups of nature that inspire me and keep my mental health in good shape in these difficult times.
I talk about love and passion.
